Do you know jesus?

Who is Jesus?

Throughout the ages, man has recognized his need for divine help to live life on earth. At Zion, we believe Jesus is the savior and deliverer, the promised one who would save man from his own shortcomings and deliver him into abundant and eternal life. Simon Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, said it well in Matthew 16:16, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Scripture tells us that Jesus has existed for all eternity as the Word of God, is God himself, & for a short time, came to earth in the flesh for the purpose of reconnecting man to God.

What did Jesus do?

Jesus came to this earth, fully human, to reveal God to man and to reconcile men to God through his sacrifice. God is the holy, perfect Creator of all. He is love and he desires to have relationship with man, whom he created. However, because he is also holy, imperfection cannot stand in his presence. There has to be justification for those who would come into his presence and not be destroyed.

In Jesus, we see God’s supernatural love communicated in human terms that we can understand. We read the Gospels and are introduced to Jesus as one who came to heal, who had compassion on all, who came to teach and clarify our understanding of God. We also see Jesus as the one who came without sin and therefore, was qualified to make the payment needed for us, to erase our guilt and bring us into justification, allowing us direct access to a holy God.

What does it mean to know Jesus?

Getting to know Jesus starts by acknowledging him, just as you would anyone you are meeting for the first time. Jesus introduces himself as being in perfect unity with God the Father. He also says he is the way to the Father, the Truth and the Life and that no one comes to the Father except through him (John 14). He has this confidence because he is fully God, holy and sinless himself, and because he was fully human and paid the price required, a blood sacrifice, for our sins. If you accept him as the way to being right with God and having access to God, then just tell him. Ask him to forgive you for anything that separates you from God, to erase any sin record you may have. Thank him for rescuing you from your own corrupt self and for making you whole and right with God. Here is an example of what to pray:

Jesus, I accept that you are the Son of God and that you are one with God. Thank you for erasing my sins and accepting me so that I can be in fellowship with God too. Please forgive me for all my mistakes, all my imperfections, all of the wrong things I have done. Thank you that your blood payment cleanses me from these things and puts me in right standing with God. Thank you that I can freely approach God in prayer because of what you have done for me and that God hears me when I pray because of you. Thank you for making me a new person in this moment. Amen.
